Morning Routine and Frómista to Carrión de los Condes

I like to get up early and walk as the sun rises.  I usually get up before 6 and am the first one the bathroom.  With two or three toilets for 20 people or so, it helps to be early.  I pack up quietly in the dark and start walking before 6:30 with a headlamp once I leave the lights of town.   The sun doesn't actually rise until 8:20, but ideally right about that time I'm passing through a village with an enterprising cafe owner who opens early for pilgrims.  I stop for a coffee and some sort of little food.  Today, it was a banana and a hard boiled egg.  I am then set for walking until 1 or 2.

There are several reasons for going so early in addition to the bathroom. One big one is that I want to make sure I have a place to sleep. When I'm early to my destination, I have a better chance of getting a bed than those who arrive after me. This is a major source of pilgrim stress and I'll write more about that later.
