More Meseta, crime, and 15 miles from Carrión de los Condes to Ledigos. October 5
First of all, the only crime I've heard of so far is a stolen camera last night. A girl had left it at her bunk (not where I was staying) when she went to the bathroom and it was gone when she came back. It was very shocking to everyone on the Camino and a good lesson to realize that even with all the good vibes, there can still be thieves about.
I wear a money belt with my passport, credit cards & cash all the time, even when I sleep. I also take it into the shower with me. Phones are more problematic because they have to be charged, sometimes in a public space. An opportunistic thief could probably walk away with a bunch of phones pretty quickly in some places. I haven't heard of that yet though.
In many cities, metal plates in the sidewalk on the Camino to guide the way -
A picture of the missing camera that's getting passed around to pilgrims in the hopes of seeing it down the trail somewhere -
