Almost Galicia. Villafranca del Bierzo to La Laguna. October 15
Galicia is the far north west region of Spain bordering Portugal to the south and the Atlantic ocean to the west and north. My destination, Santiago de Compostela, is in Galicia. The history of Galicia is unique. The weather is different in Galicia. For lots of reasons, passing into Galicia is a milestone on the Camino. The first Galician city on the Camino is O'Cebreiro at the end of a long climb. Tonight, I am staying in La Laguna, the last town before O'Cebreiro, hence not quite Galicia.
Everything is already looking different, though. There's green grass everywhere and steep densely forested roads.
An ancient road -
A Roman bridge -
There's even a lumber industry.
A passing reflection -
And more wild crocuses -
Colored hills -
And horse riders -
Today's lunch -
Tonight's bed -
Today's walk. About 17 miles.
